Open Question: Windows Media Player 10 installation error?

I currently have Windows XP service pack 2 installed on my machine, and it came with media player 11. I have uninstalled 11 and now want to install 10, but every time I try the message "This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, view the information at the Microsoft web site" comes up. I have seen many solutions on the web which recommend moving the file "wmploc.dll" from the ServicePackFiles directory into the C:\WINDOWS\System32. However, for some reason my computer doesn't have a ServicePackFiles directory (it's supposed to be in C:\WINDOWS), and secondly the wmploc.dll file is already in the system32 folder. Can anybody help?

phone will not turn on, will not charge. Voting Question: DVD/CD ROM playback problems?

Hi all,

I'm relatively inexperienced with hardware/internal issues on my computer and have a problem that I can't fix:
I am running Windows XP Home. I keep upto date with patches, etc and my computer runs fine except for when I have a CD or DVD in my drive. when ever I am playing from the disc (or reading it or burning to it) my audio and video becomes garbled, jittery, like it reads a bit, then stops, reads some more, then stops. I just replaced the drive yesterday and the problem still persists. If I am listening to music or watching any video file (ether from my Ipod or a file on the hard drive), and try to read the disc in the player (such as from explorer), this happens. If I try to play an audio or video file from the disc, it happens. THis leads me to think it is not a hardware problem (at last not with the player).

THis morning, I removed any program that would have anything to do with my drive-itunes, real, rhapsody, cd ripping program, etc and the problem still remained when I tried to play an audio CD. Any suggestions?

I am using a Windows 2000 Server to act as a router for my home network using Microsoft RRAS NAT. The server has two NIC's, one connected to my ISP, and one connected to my LAN. It also has Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and is a web server. The problem is, my external internet connection periodically stops working for the server and all clients, all the internal services work, but external access completely stops (Including the website and pinging external servers). I find when I restart the network card connected to my LAN, everything goes back to normal for a while, and than the proccess repeats as I described before.

I would apprieciate your assistance on resolving this very much!

I've identified a toll free number (1-800-7x4-8x37) that I want to buy. The number is not currently in use, so I'm trying to figure out who owns it or how to buy it. I'm not interested in renting or leasing, but I can't find anyone who offers those options for this phone number either.

If I call the phone number I get a message that says "sorry, the number you dialed is invalid, please check the area code dialed or call directory assistance in the city you wish to reach."

If I look up the phone number using "reverse phone lookup" services like Reverse Phone Detective (http://www.reversephonedetective.com/) or AnyWho (http://www.anywho.com), I get nothing. I even paid Intelius (http://www.intelius.com/) $14.95 to investigate the phone number, and they refunded my money because they couldn't come up with anything.

There are a lot of cell phone lookup services out there. But this is not a cell phone number - it's a toll free (800) number. Are there any services that can help?
I'm being told that I can't "own" a toll free number - I can only pay a monthly fee to use it. So, if that's the only option, that's fine. But it seems no service providers are able to rent me the specific number I want (800-7x4-8x37). I've tried over a dozen toll free number providers, and none of them have this number. The number is not active and it's not listed. How to I get access to it?

I am trying to CHMOD my formmail script to 711 (tried 755 also) so I can execute it. I have tried several ftp's and several files but I get this error:

Google says:

"The KRBTGT user account is only for Kerberos authentication."

I can only see the account by giving a 'find' command or by a "dsquery user DC=whatever,DC=com -disabled" command. It's member of Domain Users.
But where is it located in the directory??

UPDATE: First Thanks to all You Yahooers, I caught my husband..He had her phone # in his phone directory and denied knowing who that number belonged to. He denied knowing anyone by her name when I did a reverse phone # Look Up !

Now, I did call her, she gave me the same song and dance she said " word for word.." ( what he said) about how that number Also got on his cell phone WITH Her Name next to it. After all was said and done I got a few " silent calls here."

Resolved Question: Dont like the idea of my address being public with the WHOIS directory!?

Ive recently bought a domain that I intend to start a small online business from offering to write customised poems for people, however Ive recently discovered that a service called WHOIS publically list all registrants contact details including addresses! I couldnt believe it was public, is this not breaking the data protection act? I have nothing to hide but I just dont like the idea of my address being available for all to see and reach, I just dont know whos out there and Im being particularily cautious as Im 17. Is it ilegal to de-register from this list? Any particular worries seeing as im planing on starting that small business?
From the data protection act -

"Data must not be disclosed to other parties without the consent of the individual whom it is about, unless there is legislation or other overriding legitimate reason to share the information (for example, the prevention or detection of crime). It is an offence for Other Parties to obtain this personal data without authorisation. "
It may be "normal", but it's wrong!

Resolved Question: Do you feel that over all postal service is needing aboost in customer service?

Our local postal worker has done this several times. When there is a package that won't fit in our secured mail box in our he or she will usually just bring it to our door.... WE LIVE IN A CONDO BUILDING.. FYI.

Today my husband went down stairs to get our mail and there was a pick up notice in our box. It stated they attempted delivery and nobody was home... which was incorrect. If someone knocked our dog would of barked.. and if someone called from the lobby on the directory board.. it rings my husbands cell phone.....

My spouse has MS and is limited on mobility. He went to the post office and they insisted that nobody was home!!!!!!! I called on his behalf and lodged a formal complaint because depending on who is working that day we do or do not get our packages delivered to our door.!

Resolved Question: SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration How To?

The setup:

I am trying to configure SSRS, and everything goes smoothly until the very end. When the setup is tested via Report Manager and Report Server on the localhost server where the databases are installed, the data sources and models display fine on the Home page for Report Manager... but when trying to access this same page from a different machine, only the very top part of the page appears. The users are not able to view the 'toolbar' nor can they see the Models and Datasources folders.

I've come across and resolved a LOT of issues with the configuration- that include everything from not putting any underscores in the Virtual Directory names to avoid XML issues to setting permissions on folders in the Windows directories... and I believe this may be a security issue as well. Does anyone know a way around this?
